Nohad “Nu” Teliani won a six-max tournament up in Canada on Wednesday, and flew down to South Florida this weekend to play Sunday’s $1,100 Six-Max tournament. There were no satellites for it, but the Ladies Event offered an $1,100 Six-Max seat as a bonus to the winner, so Teliani entered, treating it almost like a ladies-only satellite — and won it in a three-way chop.
“It feels pretty awesome,” said Teliani. “We had some really tough competition at the final table, so it was really fun.”
When asked how ladies events compare with other events, Teliani said, “I’m starting to think they’re more comparable. I used to be more intimidated by the ladies. I felt men were easier to play against because women were so scattered, but when you get to this level, the girls are really good.”
But Teliani’s preference is clearly six-max poker.
“Six-max is my favorite structure,” said Teliani. “You can be more aggressive, and you can call light, which I like to do.”
