Jeff Fogel

Jeff Fogel opened to 2,400 and called a three-bet from Jonathan Jaffe on the button. Fogel checked the Qh9c2h flop and called another 6,000 from Jaffe. After the 9s turn, Fogel moved all in and Jaffe called.

Fogel: 9d6d
Jaffe: KcKh

Fogel’s trip nine’s were ahead of Jaffe’s preflop monster and he found a double after the Qs river. The dealer counted down his stack, told Jaffe it was 20,700 Jaffe shipped it across the felt.

Fogel is a regular in our SHRP tournaments while the former basketball and football coach battles ALS. On the personal side of the equation, Fogel was awarded the ALS Recovery Fund Hero of the Year award in 2014 for his efforts to raise awareness and funds to combat the disease. As far as poker, he has dozens of SHRP cashes including a runner-up finishing during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Turbo Event 2 this past August.

Nick Yunis

We’re used to seeing Nick Yunis around the ballrooms whenever we have a big series running and he owns a SHRPO trophy when he captured the fun-filled Charity Series of Poker event in 2014. He has nearly $1.3 million in career earnings and is the second-ranked player from Chile.

But if he wants to win a WSOPC Main Event ring here, he’ll have to take another shot. We caught up to his table with the board reading QsQd2hKs6s and his opponent checked. Yunis moved all in for ~20,000 and he got a quick call.

“Full house?” Yunis asked before showing 4s3s. His opponent did not have a full house, but he did have the nut flush to send Yunis out shortly before the dinner break.

He put a together a string of final table appearances in that series including a fourth-place finish in the $570. In all, he earned just over $40,000 during the roughly two-week event.
