Spencer Champlin

There are only 30 minutes remaining for players to get down to the ballroom to be a part of our first huge WSOP Circuit event. The flight sits at 390 entries and it is only a handful away from pushing the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool over $800,000.

Spencer Champlin is back down south and hunting for his third career WSOP Circuit title. Not only does he own two rings, he won both of them a week apart back in February 2016 for a sweet heater. Champlin also picked up a chunk of change a few days ago when he won the Black Chip Bounty event closing out the Borgata Poker Open for more than $11,000.

Champlin does not have an easy table draw to run up his stack. He is bookended by fellow WSOP Circuit winner Steven Karp and TK Miles on each side but his table will be one of the first to break as the field shrinks.

David Moreno

As SHRP team member Jessica Dawley was getting knocked out on Table 72, two SHRP regulars were mixing it up at Table 71. David Moreno had John Ultey at risk and facing a race to stay away from the re-entry desk.

Moreno: TsTc
Utley: AdQd

Utley needed some help but missed the 6d5h5c flop. The 9h turn was no help and he was sent out after the 7s river.

Jessica Dawley

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Jessica Dawley had a rough go of it in the earlier flight, losing late when her opponent rivered a gutshot straight, and her luck did not change this evening.

In a three-way pot with Andre Rakusa and AJ “Doc” Santos, she was all in for 9,200 after Santos bet 4,500 on the Qs6s4c flop. Rakusa considered coming along, asked for a specific count, then released his hand. Santos quickly called and Dawley needed to catch.

Santos: AsQd
Dawley: 8s7s

Santos was ahead with top/top but Dawley had 11 outs twice with the flush draw/gutshot draw. The 6d turn was a blank and the 7c river sent her to the rail.

AJ “Doc” Santos – 41,000 (103 bb)

Eric Rivkin

We’re used to seeing some pretty talented players in any of our major series with plenty of titles to their name. Add in a WSOP Circuit stop and the talent level goes up a little more.

Eric Rivkin is part of that talent on the WSOPC tour but he’s also a regular down here whenever we run the big events. He won his first WSOP Circuit ring two summers ago in Baltimore, earned his biggest WSOP Circuit cash earlier this year with a High Roller final table in Wisconsin, and had his biggest career score last summer when he made the WPT final table in Choctaw.

Dylan Drazen

We’re seeing no slowdown to the steady pace of entrants into the last flight of the $500,000 Guarantee Kickoff with 220 in the game during the first hour. That pushed the prize pool over $700,000 and the next stop is $750,000.

Dylan Drazen is back trying to put together a bag but it will be tough to top his last result in a major SHRP event. He already owned a trophy from last year’s Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” when he went deep in the huge Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship last month. Drazen came one spot away from the huge trophy but he was able to bank a very nice $528,000 for his runner-up finish.

Jason Young, getting the John Holley stare down

Flight F is off a huge start and could very well challenge this morning’s field for the biggest of the tournament. There were more than 150 entries in the game before the first level was complete and we have a steady parade coming in the door.

WSOP shoot-out winner Jason Young is making his first appearance this series. He’s had a few deep runs on property but still waiting for his first SHRP win, for a ring to go along with his bracelet. Young won’t have an easy go of it with six-time WSOP Circuit ring winner John Holley sitting to his right.
