The final numbers are in and the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open” Main Event Day 1A drew a big crowd of 210 entrants for a great start to the event.

Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and Nigel Murray are off to blistering starts and look to be among the first to build six-digit stacks. Adam “Roothlus” Levy was moved upstairs to Table 41 and was soon ed by Darryll Fish. Levy can’t catch a break on the tough tables today.

The first three seat at Table 34 are occupied by Chino Rheem, Eric Piderit, and Edina Pantinchin. One pro, one local, and one model. Pantinchin was quick to point out she has skills at the table and won the Turbo event here in April during the Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. She is chipping up nicely today after eliminating an opponent after the break with AK over AQ all-in preflop.

Tournament staff beginning to count down the field and 135 of the starting 210 entrants are still around with a chance. There are a few tables remaining in the cash game area but they will be breaking soon, putting the entire field on the upstairs tournament tables.

Players are off on their second break of the day with just a few minutes remaining before they close the books on ing for Day 1A. We have a big field of 206 entrants so far showing on the board and tables continue to break in the downstairs area to feed the tournament tables.

Three-time WPT final tablist Darryll “DFish” Fish is one of those who recently ed the field and was sitting with his back to Adam “Roothlus” Levy, avoiding that tough table.

Big three-way pots are fun to watch but they can be tough on the players. They are sitting with some deep stacks and it usually takes an interesting hand to get there. Table 41 was waiting on the 5-seat to make a decision with two all-in ahead of him.

He eventually called with 7c6c and the board reading Jh6h5c2c with a flush draw and pair. The 1-seat was the shortest of the three had held top pair, weak kicker Jd3d and the 3-seat ahead with QdQh. The 2s came on the river to shove the 45k pot to the 3-seat while the 5-seat was down to less than 10k.

The field is inching up towards 200 players for the day and it should get there with less than an hour left for late registration and re-entry.

Local regular Nigel Murray is rarely quiet, he will talk about anything and everything at the table as long as he has chips. He was chirping across the table at the 1-seat with the board reading AhAd2d4s3h.

“I think my Ace King is good,” he needled before throwing out a bet. The 1-seat quickly called and slammed his AsKc on the table to draw a laugh from Murray who flipped up 8c5d for another Main Event Wheel.

“You played that so bad,” Murray kept up his chatter as the 1-seat just pulled his hoodie up a little tighter.

The field has topped 190 entrants for the Main Event midway through Level 3 and we have another WSOP bracelet winner in the crowd. 2011 WSOP Triple Chance winner David Diaz bought into the tournament after the break and quietly grinding it out on Table 33.

The deep stacked, big buy-in Main Event has not slowed down some of the players as the early action is moving quickly. Lius Santino is a regular in The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock and he is now firing his second bullet in the Main Event. He was walking downstairs and flashed the universal sign for busted out.

“Let’s try this again,” Santino said as he headed towards the cashier to buy back in.

We also found an empty which was once occupied by Seniors Event winner Jeff Kessler but were unable to find out his circumstances. Two players at his former table found hands worth taking into battle with AcAs against KdKs. They were both on their feet with the Aces looking happy and even more so on the Ad5h3h flop. That was the last of his joy as the dealer ran out the board 2d and 4h for a wheel on the board to chop it up.

Players are off on their first break of the day and the board is showing 184 entrants currently with two more levels to get in the game or re-enter. The most recent entrant was former WSOP November Niner and WPT Champion David “Chino” Rheem.

Weekend players who drew Table 2 at the start of the Main Event will a little tougher path to the championship. Adam “Roothlus” Levy was the first to take his seat at the table and was ed minutes later by Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi in the 1-seat.

The two players have combined to win nearly $17 million in career tournament earnings with most of that on Mizrachi’s ledger. The Miami resident is a 3-time WSOP bracelet winner, 2-time WPT champion, and has recorded six tournament cashes of a $1 million or more.

Players continue to lineup at the cage to buy into the Main Event bringing the total entrants up to 168 midway through the second level.
