The 372,500 chips of leader Ramon Miquel

Cards are in the air following the final break of the evening. As has been the case since dinner, Ramon Miquel leads the action.

Miquel lead by a slight margin a couple hours ago, but beat it up the last three levels and now has a huge stack of 372,500. Not only is that top in Flight B, but that would put him third in the overall counts were the event to bag right now.

Flight B players are set to log three more levels — two hours of play — and lots can happen in that time. We’ll keep an eye on his progress.

Event 4: Vlad Mezheritsky Doubles through the Chip Leader 21b8

Event 4: $1,650 Deepest Stack
$300,000 Guaranteed
Level 12: 1,000/2,000/300
Flight B Entries: 111 (Total Entries: 222)

Vlad Mezheritsky

There was a late position raise to 6,000. Chip leader Ramon Miguel called from the button as did the small blind and Vlad Mezheritsky in the big blind. They were four handed to the flop.

Flop: KhTh8h

The small blind checked and Mezheritsky shoved 26,500 chips. The late-position raiser folded and Miguel called. The small blind folded and Mezheritsky was at risk holding Ks8c for two pair. The good fortune continued to Miquel as he owned AhQh — the nut flush.

The turn fell hard — the 8s — giving Mezheritsky a fullhouse. Miquel had outs to the royal, but the river Ac wasn’t one of them. Ultimately it was an inconsequential pot for Miguel who still owned 370,000 chips after shipping the double to Mezheritsky. Mezheritsky’s stack grew to 75,000.

With a stack of over 200,000, Miquel Ramon leads the way after dinner break in the $1,650. According to Michael Newman, Miquel rose to the big stack after the pair butt heads in an aces-versus-nines battle. Newman, who held about 200,000 chips, owned the aces while Miquel had the nines. Unfortunately for Newman, the flop was out and it laid Kx9x4x giving Miquel a set. The pair got it all in and Newman never improved.

After an unsuccessful title defense yesterday, Scott Heiligman returns to the tournament felt again today and is chipping up in Flight B.

Last year, Heiligman defeated 367 entries and pocketed the lion’s share of the tournament’s $550,500 prize pool following a heads up deal with Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Sheddy Siddiqui. He hopes to repeat that feat this year, but has a tough road ahead of him as David Diaz and Stu Paterson are among those at his starting table.
