With Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah already having bagged, another west coast regular is in search of the same. Karl Manouchakian, who claimed Player of the Series honors during the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa last summer, made the trek across the state and is among the field here in Flight C. He sits at pretty much starting stack midway through Level 9.

With a limper already in, Michael Merisier popped it to 2,000. The player to his direct left three-bet to 5,500. The remaining players in the hand folded and it was back on Merisier. He called.

Both players checked the JsTsTh flop. The turn was the 3h and Merisier lead for 7,000. The opponent called and it was on to the river.

Fifth street fell the Jd and Merisier plopped a 25,000 chips in the pot announcing, “12,500.” The opponent took his time, but found a fold.

Merisier scooped a nice pot and began to grow his stack back toward 50,000.

Like the aforementioned Sheddy Siddiqui, Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Mukul Pahuja too made a deep run in this event last year finishing third earning over $50,000.

Pahuja is one of the most recent entries in this year’s event having late ed following break. His stack has shrunk over the first couple orbits, most recently raising, then calling three streets in a hand with Scott Efron in which Efron’s top pair was good. Pahuja sits on about 35,000.

Having nearly tripled his starting stack, he appears to lead the way over the growing field.

David Shmuel claimed victory in last year’s $250 Deep Stack Series Holiday Deep Stack. He came out tops following a four-way chop and pocketed $11,283 along with a $5,250 buy-in seat in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship.

This year’s Holiday Deep Stack begins on Monday and again features $30,000 guaranteed and a $5,250 seat added. Schmuel hopes to be unable to defend his title as he’s among the Flight C field in today’s $1,650. The final table for this event will run alongside the Holiday Deep Stack.

Defending Seminole Immokalee Poker Championship winner Josh Gibson is among the early goings here in Flight C. Gibson has recorded numerous notable cashes including a third-place finish in the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open Championship and a final table appearance at the 2016 World Series of Poker. His Immokalee win came during the property’s February series. He defeated 125 entries and pocketed $50,000.
