Thursday was the final day of the prelims, because Friday is Day 1A of the main event — the $3,500 buy-in WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open. But this final prelim shouldn’t be overlooked, as this $2,200 buy-in event attracted 335 entries and more than tripled its guarantee with a prizepool of $670,000.
There were plenty of marquee names in the field, but it was Dominique Mosley who defeated Nadya Magnus heads-up to win the title, the trophy, and a whopping $140,342.
“It feels great,” Mosley said as he discussed his first Seminole Hard Rock trophy. “I got lucky in a few big hands, and the rest is history.”
Mosley was up against the wall after getting it all in after the flop with middle pair against top-and-bottom for Magnus. by winning a preflop race less than 15 minutes later.
“I thought Nadya played great,” said Mosley. “She was deserving heads-up, but the cards went my way.”
Primarily a cash game player, Mosley can’t resist the big tournament series here at the Seminole Hard Rock.
“I’ve been playing here since I was 18,” said Mosley when asked about the casino. “It’s like my home. I love everything about it.”
